The Reel

the Twin Power XD stays true its premium pedigree.

Hagane gear and body
The battle-tested cold forged Hagane gear has received a
significant upgrade through advancements in Shimano’s
high-precision technology, resulting in a strength rating that is
comparable to one size larger in the previous model. Additionally,
X-Ship provides vital pinion and drive gear support, ensuring
optimum arrangement for ultra-light smooth reeling. To further
protect the engagement of the XD’s internals, the Hagane Body acts
as a rigid aluminium armour that firmly suppresses any distortion
and twisting when under load.

X-Protect
To oppose unwanted saltwater intrusion, X Protect provides the Twin
Power XD with Shimano’s highest degree of protection. Developed
especially for the XD series, X Protect leverages a waterproof
labyrinth structure on top of the anti-reverse bearing which blocks
any internal saltwater entry into the body. This is also combined
with a new water repellent treatment that is applied to the body,
line rollers and roller clutch, making the reel ideal for saltwater
applications.

Magnum light rotor
The new Magnum Light Rotor enables effortless winding through a 14
% reduction in rotational resistance and a 30% improvement in
rigidity. G Free body shifts the reel’s center of gravity closer to
the reel seat, perfecting the reel’s balance and feel when in your
hand.

The Rod
The new Shimano Zodias 270M Medium Spinning Rod has undergone a significant upgrade and now features Shimano’s exclusive Carbon Monocoque Butt for the ultimate in sensitivity. The Full Carbon Monocoque rod butt is made of a hollow carbon construction, eliminating the use of EVA from the rear grip. This results in a very lightweight construction that is extremely sensitive and improves vibration transmission through the rod blank to your hand when working a lure. To provide the exact balance between power and finesse, the Zodias continues to feature Shimano’s Hi-Power X graphite blank and Ci4+ Reel Seat and upgraded Fuji Stainless Alconite K guides with a SiC tip. Finished with the slick red and black cosmetics that have made the Zodias series a perfect match for many Shimano reels.

Carbon Monocoque
Carbon Monoqoque grip is a new level of high sensitivity for rods with the innovative idea of hollowing the rear grip by carbon integral moulding. This allows for unprecedented lightness and sensitivity.

Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank’s outermost layer is diagonally wrapped with carbon tape, which forms an array of “X” shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species.
